About The Planter
The Planter is a creative Plant & Sip experience that brings people together through hands-on workshops. From terrariums to seasonal plant arrangements, we partner with breweries, cafés, markets, and private venues to create welcoming, memorable experiences that make plant care fun, social, and approachable.
Role Overview
You'll be the face of The Planter in your region — creating experiences that bring people together while we support you behind the scenes. Lead your own workshops under an established brand with materials, structure, and full support provided. Create your own schedule, choose and suggest venues in your area, and grow with us at your own pace.
Qualifications
  • Basic plant knowledge — succulents, terrariums, and houseplants preferred
  • Strong communication and people skills
  • Ability to stay organized during events
  • Reliable transportation — willing to travel locally 20–30 minutes
  • Availability for evenings and weekends
  • Previous teaching, event, or customer-facing experience is a plus
What You'll Do
  • Host and lead plant workshops at local venues
  • Guide guests step-by-step through their projects
  • Create a fun, welcoming, and organized experience
  • Set up and break down events — materials provided
  • Suggest and help secure local venues (with approval)
  • Capture simple content during workshops when needed
  • Ensure each event runs smoothly from start to finish
Compensation
Paid per event based on attendance. Per-person rate is determined by experience. This is a contract position — ideal for someone looking for flexible, event-based work with real growth potential within their region.

This role is ideal for someone who is creative and hands-on, takes pride in staying organized, and can be relied on to follow through. You should feel comfortable speaking in front of groups and guiding others with confidence, while also being self-motivated and able to take ownership of your role. Most importantly, this is for someone looking for something flexible, yet meaningful — an opportunity to be part of experiences that bring people together.
💡 No terrarium experience? No problem. We provide full training — what matters most is your energy, your love for people, and your willingness to grow with us.

We currently operate in Hampton Roads, VA and Upstate New York — and we're actively looking for instructors in new regions. If you're on the East Coast and feel the pull, we want to hear from you.

📍 Hampton Roads, VA
Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Hampton, Newport News, Suffolk, Portsmouth & surrounding areas. Travel up to 20–30 min from home.
📍 Upstate New York
Capital Region, Central NY & Hudson Valley. Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Saratoga Springs, Glens Falls & surrounding areas. Travel up to 20–30 min from home.
📍 New Regions — East Coast
Expanding across the East Coast. If you're in a city not listed here, still apply — we're actively looking to grow into new areas and your region could be next.
